My front-line role
I am the Labour Party County Councillor for Vicarage/Holywell Divistion. The ‘Your Community’ section provides local service information, news, events, and contacts about the area.
My division contains Watford Hospital and Watford Football Club. Having these 2 important landmarks in my division is very important as they influence how Watford is seen throughout the County and beyond. I am interested in the development of the Watford Health Campus and how this can benefit my area and bring much needed housing and job regeneration for residents in West Watford and across the Town.
I represent the interests of around 20,000 residents of the communities. I am also a Borough Councillor for Holywell on Watford Borough Council.
As is the case with every County Councillor, I have a locality budget of £10,000 a year to spend on community projects in the division. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I have previously agreed and declined.
My County Council responsibilities
I am the Deputy Leader of the Labour Group and I am a member of the Education & Skills Cabinet Panel, the Children’s Services & Corporate Parenting Panel and the Highways and Transport Cabinet Panel. I have been a County Councillor representing this division in West Watford since May 2005.
Roles on outside bodies
I am a trustee of the West Watford Community Association which is a registered charity which promotes the interests of West Watford and helps residents in West Watford.
Personal, professional and political details
My full time job is as a Civil servant with the Department of Work and Pensions. I am divorced with two grown-up daughters, Felicity and Jennifer. I am also the Deputy Leader of the Opposition Labour Group on Watford Council. I am a member of the Development Control Committee of Watford Council and a member of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee at Watford.
I stood as the Labour Candidate for elected Mayor in May 2010.
