My front-line role
I am the Conservative County Councillor for Braughing division. The ‘Your Community’ section provides local service information, news, events, and contacts about the area. Click below for more information:
The settlements in my Division include Buntingford, Puckeridge, Braughing and Cottered.
As well as the settlements listed above, my division also covers Dane End, The Hormeads, Brent Pelham, Great Munden, Aspenden, Wydial, Westmill, Buckland and Anstey.
I take a great interest in the lives of the 10,000 or so local residents that I have represented for over 27 years on the County Council. I like to keep close to the work of Buntingford Town Council and all the Parish Councils in my rural division. These local councils are close to their communities and know what the local issues and priorities are of their residents. This information is helpful for me, I appreciate the way I am kept informed so that I can help with problems being experienced, give general advice or take up individual cases.
As is the case with every County Councillor, I have a locality budget of £10,000 a year to spend on community projects in the division. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I have previously agreed and declined.
My County Council responsibilities
I have had Executive responsibilities over the years for Environment Services, Highways, Libraries, Adult Care Services and Children’s Services.
Currently I have the honour of being the Chairman of the County Council.
Personal, professional and political details
My interests include spending time with my grandchildren, walking with our dogs, gardening and the opera.
