My front-line role
I am the Conservative County Councillor for Berkhamsted. The ‘Your Community’ section provides local service information, news, events and contacts about the area. Click below for more information:
I represent the interests of the 17,000 residents of Berkhamsted. I am also a town councillor on Berkhamsted Town Council and a borough councillor on Dacorum Borough Council. I also work closely with our Member of Parliament, David Gauke.
Residents who wish to raise any issue with me are welcome to do so at any time, whether by e-mail, letter or telephone. I will always deal promptly with casework issues.
As is the case with every county councillor, I have a locality budget of £10,000 a year to spend on community projects in the town. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I have previously agreed and declined.
My County Council responsibilities
I have been a county councillor since 2009. I am currently Deputy Executive Member for Environment and Community Safety, and Vice Chairman of the Environment, Economy and Community Safety Cabinet Panel. I am also a member of the Highways and Transport Cabinet Panel.
Roles on outside bodies
I am the County Council’s representative on the Anglia (Central) Regional Flood Defence Committee, and the LGA Strategic Aviation Special Interest Group.
I am also, independently of my role as a county councillor, a member of the Chilterns Conservation Board and of the London Luton Airport Consultative Committee.
Personal, professional and political details
I grew up in Hertfordshire and attended the universities of London and Oxford. I am now retired but worked in the public sector for all of my working life; at first in universities, then in the Ministry of Defence, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Post Office. I first became a town councillor in 1991 and a borough councillor in 2000.
