My front-line role
I am the Conservative County Councillor for Ware North division. The ‘Your Community’ section provides local service information, news, events and contacts about the area.
I represent the interests of the residents of Ware North on Hertfordshire County Council. I also serve as the District Councillor on East Herts Council for Thundridge & Standon Ward, which fall within my County Council Division.
I work closely with the Parish Councils of both Standon and Thundridge parishes and Ware Town Council to ensure their views are taken into account, and I speak and meet regularly with both Oliver Heald MP and Mark Prisk MP, in whose constituencies our community lies.
I look to engage wherever possible with local residents and community groups to assist where I can. Feedback from residents is absolutely vital to the work I do for you, and I am always happy to hear about issues by telephone, letter or email.
As is the case with every County Councillor, I have a locality budget of £10,000 a year to spend on community projects in the division. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I have previously agreed and declined.
My County Council responsibilities
I joined the Council in 2009 and I am the Deputy Executive Member for Hertfordshire Local and Libraries. I also serve on the Highways and Waste panels. Whenever I can, I engage in the work of other areas of business, substituting for colleagues who cannot attend meetings. I have engaged comprehensively with the scrutiny process serving on a number of ‘Topic Groups’ and in October 2010, I chaired a scrutiny of the condition of the rivers in Hertfordshire, a subject about which I feel passionately.
Roles on outside bodies
I am a board member of South Anglia Housing Association and a director of the Wodson Park Trust. I am pleased to be a governor of Richard Hale School.
Personal, professional and political details
I have lived and worked in Hertfordshire for much of the last 35 years and my daughter and two sons were born and, thus far, have been educated in the county.
I developed an interest in politics whist at school and whilst it lay dormant for several decades it re-emerged some 10 years ago and it is now my major interest after my family.
Can I re-iterate that I can only be totally effective in my role representing you if I am aware of what it is that excites or concerns you. Do please contact me whenever you feel I can help.
