Personal, professional and political details
After completing an apprenticeship in electronic engineering I came to Cheshunt to manage an electrical dealership at the age of twenty. After 5 years working for this company I started my own business in and around the Broxbourne area dealing in TV and radio equipment - plus servicing them. I opened 3 shops, a TV rental business and a TV/Video workshop. I traded for 35 years and became well know in the area for the excellent service I offered our customers. Just over six years ago at the age of 59, having been a life long Conservative I was approached by the local party to stand for the Cheshunt Central seat. Soon I was asked to take on extra responsibility in my county councillor’s role and made the decision to close my business down to allow me to concentrate more time on this job.
I was born in the East End of London but have lived and worked in the Broxbourne area for 45 years. I have been married for 44 years and have two grown up sons who were born in Cheshunt and attended local schools. I now have twin 8 year old granddaughters who live in Broxbourne and attend the same school their father and uncle did. My hobbies include classic cars, computing and video film making. My video presentations include lots of local events, many of which can be viewed on my You Tube channel! I am still involved in the running of a technicians help group.
