My Front-line role
As the county councillor for Hatfield North, I represent the interests of the residents of this expanding community on the County Council. The ‘Your Community’ section provides local service information, news, events and contacts about the area.
I work closely with the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Councillors for the same area; our Member of Parliament, Grant Shapps, who lives in Hatfield; active residents’ and community groups, the University and the Police.
Residents who wish to raise any issue with me are welcome to do so at any time, whether by e-mail, letter or telephone. I will always deal promptly with casework issues.
As is the case with every County Councillor, I have a locality budget of £10,000 a year to spend on community projects in the division. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I have previously agreed and declined.
My Council responsibilities
I have served on the County Council since 2005 and I currently sit on the Education and Skills Panel, Herts Local and Libraries Panel, and the Development and Control Committee.
Role on outside bodies
I am a member of the Police Authority, and the Police Authority Lead for Welwyn Hatfield, and I have responsibility for the Independent Custody Visitors’ scheme.
I have been a member of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council since 2003 and I am a Governor of Onslow St Audrey’s School, having previously been governor at a local primary school for four years.
Personal, professional and political details
I moved to Hertfordshire in 2003, having formerly taught in schools in Dorset. I studied with the Open University while raising two children, and obtained a first degree in science, and post graduate certificate in education, and a Masters degree in educational management.
