My front-line role
I am the county councillor for the division of Rickmansworth. The ‘Your Community’ section provides local service information, news, events and contacts about the area.
The Rickmansworth Division includes Rickmansworth Town, Rickmansworth West, Penn, Mill End, Maple Cross, West Hyde and Heronsgate Wards.
Please feel free to contact me on any issue at any time. If you are new in the area and would wish me to call on you, it would give me great pleasure to do so.
As is the case with every County Councillor, I have a locality budget of £10,000 a year to spend on community projects in the division. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I have previously agreed and declined.
My County Council responsibilities
I have had the pleasure to serve the people in the County Division of Rickmansworth for over 18 years.
My main areas of interest are:
All Children’s Services: education welfare and those children with special needs; all services for the County’s ‘Looked After Children’ adoption, fostering and those in the Councils children’s residential homes.
Adult Care Services and Health: care services and residential care services. I am linked with and serve with many of the local voluntary services.
Roles on outside bodies
I am also a Three Rivers District councillor and I have served in this capacity for the past 23 years for Rickmansworth West Ward, re-elected in May 2010. During this time I have had the pleasure of meeting and helping many of you.
As a district councillor I served on the Housing Committee for many years and now on Sustainable Environment Scrutiny and Licensing and Regulatory Panels. I have a special interest in community safety where I work closely with the police and other community services
I am a school governor on two local schools and am a member on the Management Committee of an education support centre.
Personal, professional and political details
My Professional Background; was nursing and I was a nurse tutor for 17 years. I retired in 1996 after 39 years of service. I am married to Richard and we have two adult children and four grown up granddaughters. I am only too familiar with the pleasures and anxieties of bringing up a family, running a home whilst working as a nurse. I have always enjoyed working with, and for people.
My other interests are local history and I am on the Management Committee of Three Rivers Museum and the Chiltern Open Air Museum.
For my pleasure I enjoy art especially live art and music. I would like to say reading, but I will leave that until I really retire; reading council papers letters and emails more than fill my time.
I am a practising Christian and a member of the Conservative Christian Fellowship.
