St Albans is a historic market market town and cathedral city,  served by an excellent communications network. It is close to the M25 and M1 and has direct rail links into London St Pancras, Gatwick Airport, the south coast and northwards to the midlands. St Albans also offers a wide variety of places for you to have your party after the ceremony.

At the Gatehouse which was once the governor's residence of the former Victorian prison is a beautiful ceremony room which has been created in keeping with the grandeur of the building. The Verulam Room which has been furnished with rich dark colours to give a more traditional feel is situated on the ground floor, it has seating for up to 60 guests and is air conditioned, the room is  easily accessible for those who have mobility problems.

The prominent front doors of the building have often featured in films and television programmes such as 'Porridge' and 'Within These Walls'. The large gardens which surround the building include an impressive cannon which helps to provide a sometimes unusual but pleasing backdrop for photographs.

Unlimited parking is available on site at the weekends only, during the week there is limited designated parking for our customers.

Opening hours:

Monday to Thursday 9.00am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 5.00pm
Friday 9.00am -12.30pm and 1.00pm - 4.00pm

The office is closed for lunch Monday to Thursday 12.30pm to 1.30pm and on a Friday 12.30pm to 1.00pm.

Parking: Visitor parking is available on site. Please park in the spaces marked for the Registration Service only.
