Still looking for a nursery place?
The Family Information Service (FIS) has a list of private, voluntary and independent providers in your area. Visit the online childcare directory at www.hertsdirect.org/fis, or for more information email fis@hertfordshire.gov.uk or call 0300 123 4052.
Is my child the right age?
The nursery admissions process for September 2013 is for children born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010. Hertfordshire County Council has a duty to provide access to 15 hours a week of free early years provision for all three and four year olds. Full time provision would normally be 3 hours per session 5 days a week; part time would normally be fewer days per week.
When will my child start at nursery?
The county council has a two intake policy for nursery admissions:
• September 2013 intake for children born between 1 September 2009 and 28 February 2010
• January 2014 intake for children born between 1 March 2010 and 31 August 2010
However, some schools operate a different intake system. Please speak to the school direct to confirm your child’s start date.
