The Authority:
- sets priorities and targets for the force
- decides how much money will be spent on policing and how much people will pay towards it each year in their Council Tax
- holds the Chief Constable to account for police performance
Formal committee meetings of the Authority are open to public and local people are encouraged to take advantage of the question time held at the start of all meetings. There is also the opportunity to present petitions to the Police Authority.
