Hertford Contact Centre is a child contact centre offering non-resident parents of separated families supported contact with their children, in a safe, and secure environment, with help at hand if needed. The reasons for using a child contact centre could include domestic violence, drug or alcohol issues. Families are referred to us by their solicitor, the court or their social worker and, upon receipt of a completed referral form and a one-off fee of £28.00, a contact session is then arranged. We aim to have a friendly, welcoming atmosphere at the contact centre as we appreciate the difficulties each family is going through. We have toys and games for families to play with and there is a snack shop selling drinks and snacks. There is also a small garden at the centre for outside play, weather permitting.
When needed we can offer staggered arrival and departure times with a volunteer dealing with handover of children so that parents do not have to come face to face with each other if they do not wish to. The centre can also facilitate handover only where parents have agreed that children can be taken out of the centre for duration of the session.
Sessions run on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month between 1.30pm to 3.30pm in the Church Hall at Hertford Methodist Church, Ware Road, Hertford SG13 7DZ.
