At Grove Cottage we provide social, and some educational, activities for people with learning disability to help them develop their potential, to support lifelong friendships and to provide respite for their families. Each week about 50 local families benefit from the respite and almost 100 people use our facilities. Children can join our nursery group in the first year of life and move through a range of activities as they develop; our oldest members are in the seventies and have been attending for 40 years.

The activities are:
  • Special Needs Nursery (up to five years) - Tuesdays & Thursdays 9.30am-2.30pm
  • Saturday Club (three to eight years) - 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Saturday Club (nine to fifteen years) - 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Youth Club (fifteen to twenty five years) - Tuesdays 7.00pm-9.00pm
  • Wednesday Club (adults) - and Thursday Club (adults) - 7.30pm-9.30pm
  • There is also a Speech & Language Therapy Group - individual times
  • Support group for parents
  • We hope to start a Friday evening Youth Club (roughly fifteen to twenty-five years) from Easter 2010
    • The Special Needs Nursery follows the Early Years Curriculum and has links with other settings including the physiotherapy unit of the local hospital who deliver services at the nursery.
