Community Support Service
Our Community Support Service provides low-level preventative support to people aged 55 years and over directly in their own home. The service is based on an assessment of need across the whole community regardless of where people live. We encourage residents to maintain their independence so they can stay in their property, but still have the assurance of help and advice during visits from their Community Support Worker. Clients are also encouraged to attend social activities in our sheltered housing schemes.
Our Retirement Living is specifically for people of 55 years of age and over and encourages tenants to maintain their independence, dignity and rights. Retirement Living gives tenants the opportunity to live in a social setting but with their own front door, and the added benefits of on-site communal facilities and the assurance of help and advice at hand from a Community Support Worker when it is needed.
Our Flexicare service provides an “in–house” 24-hour home care service to support people to live safely and as independently as possible. Care is individually tailored to each resident, based on choice and an assessment of their personal needs. The schemes are made up of self-contained flats and other communal facilities all under one roof. Everything has been carefully designed to suit older people so they can stay in their own flat, even if they are quite frail or become more dependent over time. The schemes also provide a range of social and recreational activities including those which promote health, physical activity and lifelong learning.
There are many misconceptions surrounding homelessness, however the fact is that individuals both young and old and even whole families can suddenly find themselves without a home for many different reasons. Our Tenancy Sustainment & Resettlement team supports clients during their stay in temporary accommodation. The support, which is individually tailored to the clients needs can continue when they are move-on in permanent accommodation, if its needed. Support can also be provided to nominees of NHDC who are in private rented accommodation.
