Hertfordshire Student TrainCard: Conditions of use

Rail lines
  1. Applicants must be attending school 6th form or Further Education (FE) college having completed compulsory education.
  2. Hertfordshire Student TrainCards (STC) will only be issued to persons aged between 16 and 18 on the date of issue, or those completing a course started before their 19th birthday. Applicants must be in full time education and live in the administrative county of Hertfordshire.
  3. A Hertfordshire STC is only valid for use by the person named on the card when the photograph is a true likeness of the holder.
  4. A Hertfordshire Student TrainCard is not valid for travel – it is for you to present at the station when you are buying your discounted season ticket to confirm that you are eligible for the discount (please note that the cost of a replacement STC is £10).
  5. A Hertfordshire STC is valid at all times during the academic year for travel at a one third discount from adult season ticket train fare on all services within Hertfordshire at the weekly, monthly or quarterly rate. The pass is only valid for journeys between home and school/college.
  6. A Hertfordshire STC is not valid if it is altered or defaced in any way.
  7. A Hertfordshire STC is NOT transferable.
  8. Possession of a Hertfordshire Student TrainCard does not confer any rights upon the holder other than those of a fare paying passenger. The operator’s conditions of carriage apply.
  9. A Hertfordshire STC remains the property of Hertfordshire County Council. The card must be surrendered on expiry or if the person ceases to be in full time post compulsory education.
  10. Any breach of these conditions will result in the withdrawal of the Hertfordshire STC and will render the holder liable to disciplinary action by the school or college.
  11. Hertfordshire County Council reserves the right to alter or withdraw the Hertfordshire STC at any time.
