Event:   The Buisness of Being Born - film showing
Venue:  Rickmansworth School Hall

The Business of Being Born
a documentary film produced by Ricki Lake

Birth USA style is a shocking reminder of what might happen in the UK without the work of midwives and charities such as the NCT. In America though there is the first dawning of realisation of the importance of midwifery and the need to make birth a positive experience for the new parents.

Here in the UK our midwives and particularly our independent midwives are at the forefront of supporting women to give birth in the way that works for them yet they are under threat.

Community showing at Rickmansworth School on July 22nd at 7.30pm
hosted by Watford NCT

Come and find out more. Meet others interested in maternity services in the UK from across the county and have a great evening. The film showing will be followed by a panel discussion.

Tickets £10 in advance by calling 0870 112 8892 or e mailing carol.montague@btinternet.com or £12 on the night (wine, nibbles and discussion included in the price)

The Guardian
"Too posh to push? No longer. Instead of an elective Caesarean, these days the fashionable crowd is going for the full delivery experience - at home. And leading the way is ex-talk show queen Ricki Lake, whose graphic homebirth video is set to be shown on the big screen."
Los Angeles Times
"Director Abby Epstein, along with executive producer Ricki Lake, takes a startlingly intimate look at the birthing process and the lesser-known options available to expectant mothers. In fact, this film is so persuasive that, if enough women see it, there's likely to be a serious boom in the midwifery trade."
Sunday Telegraph
"More mothers are going for home births"
The Independent
"Midwives are preparing for a rush of interest in births outside hospital once this film hits UK screens"
