Hoddesdon: Essex Road (603) - 30mph

This site was commissioned on 14 November 2003.

Between 1 January 1998 and 1 January 2001 there were 13 personal injury collisions of which 2 resulted in people being killed or seriously injured.

This camera site is located on a road which is a 'restricted road' as defined by Section 82 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Section 81(1) of the above Act provides that 'It shall not be lawful for a person to drive a motor vehicle on a restricted road at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour'.

Section 82(1) of the above Act provides that 'a road is a restricted road for the purposes of Section 81 of this Act if there is provided on it a system of street lighting furnished by means of lamps placed not more than 200 yards apart.'
