How to apply for or renew an individual Blue Badge

How to apply
Whether you are applying for a new Blue Badge or renewing as existing one the process is the same. You can apply/renew by:
- Visiting the GOV.UK website.
- Printing an application form.
- Contacting us to request an application form.
| We are currently experiencing delays with issuing some Blue Badges. Renewal applications not received within our six week time frame are taking up to seven weeks to administer. We are working hard to resolve these problems and apologise for the delay. Renewal badges that are received within our six week time frame and new applications are being despatched on time. |
Terminal illness
We will fast track your application if you are terminally ill or linked to a hospital or hospice.
Documents needed for Blue Badge
Whether you apply/renew online or by paper application you need to send in certified copies of your proof of identity, address and entitlement to benefits with the application.

Hertfordshire residents can have copies certified at their local library.
Passport-style photo
Applying online
If you apply online you can upload a digital passport-style photograph as part of the application or you can send this in with your certified copies.You can pay online at the same time.
Paper application
If you complete a paper application you need to include a passport-style photograph with the application.

Payment
If you apply online you can pay online at the same time. If you don't wish to pay online or you are sending a paper application you can either pay by:
Telephone
State on the application that you would like to make a telephone payment. If your application is successful, we will tell you how to make a telephone payment.
Cheque or postal order
Send a cheque or postal order for £10 payable to Hertfordshire County Council with the name of the applicant printed on the back. We do not cash the cheque unless your application is successful

Send the certified copies of supporting documents, passport-style photo and cheque or postal order (if applicable) to the address below
Paper application
Send the completed paper application, certified copies of supporting documents, passport-style photo and cheque or postal order (if applicable) to the address below.
