Waste Planning
As the Waste Planning Authority for Hertfordshire, the county council is required to prepare land-use planning documents which take into consideration the views and ideas of those who may be affected by the ways in which waste could be managed, treated and disposed of.
We already have a Waste Plan for the county, but this is now out of date and needs to be reviewed. The new plan, which will cover a period of at least 10 years, will set out the county council’s vision and objectives for the future treatment of waste and the policies and proposals necessary to achieve this vision, including identifying potential sites for future waste facilities and safeguarding existing facilities.
These policies and proposals will be set out in a collection of documents, which are collectively known as the Waste Development Framework. Public consultation and engagement are important to waste plan production and there have been and will be a number of opportunities to make your views known. The timetable for document production and details of when and how to get involved in the waste plan process are set out in the Minerals and Waste Development Scheme and the Statement of Community Involvement.
