The Graduate and Registered Teacher Programme Route
The Graduate and Registered Teacher Programmes (GRTP) are employment-based routes to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). These routes allow unqualified teachers in a school to follow a training programme working towards QTS whilst being employed.
Individuals interested in obtaining QTS will require GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English. Those wishing to teach the primary age range or Key Stage 2/3 are also required to have a GCSE Grade C or above in one of the sciences.
To find out more about this route contact the Teaching Information Line on 0800 389 2500 and look on the Training and Development Agency TDA website (via the link shown). The website gives information about all Designated Recommending Bodies which have training places to allocate.
