Returners Courses:
The DCSF (previously the DfES) recommends that anyone who has been out of teaching for several years should complete a returners course.
We plan to run a Secondary Teachers Returners course starting in September 2008 and our joing Primary/Secondary course to start in January 2009.
Courses are approximately 15 weeks, with a one day a week taught session and a two/three week full-time school placement (two weeks for primary teachers and three weeks for secondary teachers).
If you are a trained teacher, not currently working in a school, the above course may be just the boost you need to return to teaching. The School Workforce Development Team in Hertfordshire would be very pleased to hear from you and provide the support you need to return to the classroom. If one of your friends or neighbours is a trained school teacher who is not currently teaching, please pass knowledge of this course on to them.
The course is run jointly with Luton and Milton Keynes Councils and covers current educational issues, led by professionals from schools and Local Authorities. The school placement is included to further enhance your expertise in the classroom.
