Hertfordshire has a strong history of recruiting Newly Qualified Teachers into it's schools.

We do not operate a pool system in Hertfordshire (applicants apply directly to schools). Our advanced online recruitment website allows you to register your details, receive weekly job alerts from schools and apply online. Schools are also able to search through the website and contact you if they have a post that may be of interest to you.
What does Hertfordshire offer?:
  • Funding for schools to support each NQT - currently £1100 per term for full timers
  • Free CD-rom “Teach in Herts” for all interested applicants. Either pick up at a recruitment fair or contact the SWD office (see link on the right)
  • Members of the team visit numerous university recruitment fairs between October and March
  • Informative handbook for all NQTs
  • Well structured core training programmes for Primary, Secondary, Early Years, and Special School NQTs
  • Comprehensive choice of further training courses – details are sent each term to all NQTs and can also be viewed on the Hertfordshire Grid for Learning - link on the right
  • On-line website for registration and assessments (NQTs have access to add their comments to assessments)
  • Training for induction tutors (to ensure a good induction experience for all in a school)
  • Specialist support for NQTs who encounter problems
