Support Roles in Schools

There is a huge variety of support roles in our schools including Teaching Assistants, Administration, Technicians, Librarians, Caretaking, Catering etc.

The relationship between teachers and support staff is changing within schools to reflect the new Workforce Remodelling structure. This allows teachers more time to concentrate on teaching and learning, and has created new roles and responsibilities for support staff. For further information on these changes, you can visit www.teachernet.gov.uk/wholeschool/supportstaff/

Below you can find links to information about some of the staff that are employed in Hertfordshire schools.

Hertfordshire Schools have their own online recruitment website for staff, including teaching and support staff. Our schools are responsible for employing their own staff but most schools advertise their vacancies on the website, so it is a useful place to start looking for a job. You can search for jobs and either contact the schools for further information or apply online, sign up for job alerts and newsletters.

If you don't have access to the internet, you can obtain copies of the Schools Vacancy Bulletin by ringing 01992 556738.

You will also find advertisements for support staff in your local paper. The direct approach to schools in your local area can also still be the best to find out about any forthcoming vacancies and to make contact with the school.

These information pages will be updated as further information becomes available over the next few weeks. Please return to check for information and news and events - thank you!
