Governor Induction
New governors are strongly advised to enrol on an Induction Course within six months of appointment/election. You can book online but to do so you will need your unique Governor ID number and your school's HCC reference number, (see on your Governance Welcome Pack.)
The course is based on the DCSF National Induction Programme for new governors and will enable you to help your governing body to be as effective as possible in its role to secure school improvement.
Outcomes
- An understanding of the three roles of the governing body;
- A knowledge of how schools work including curriculum, personnel and finance;
- An appreciation of an effective meeting and how to participate.

The course uses a variety of teaching strategies including group discussion, video, case studies and tutor input.
