Primary Support Bases (PSBs) provide an intensive period of support for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
They provide "extended roll", where pupils are dual registered and receive support from the base in their own school. Following this support many pupils are able to continue in a mainstream setting. Other pupils may be admitted to the PSB permanent roll for a period of intensive support and assessment.

*With each Primary Support Base there are up to 6 permanent places within the school and a further 6 places for extended roll pupils. Short periods of respite (up to a maximum of a term) can, with the agreement of the headteacher, be arranged for extended roll pupils who are then taught in the base classroom at the host school. The maximum number of pupils, who can be on respite at any one time is 2.
