Part Time Study 2008/2009

If you are taking a part time course and your study will lead to a Higher Education qualification below post-graduate level, for example BA, BSc, HND, HNC, DipHE, you may be eligible for help with the costs of your course. You will need to be studying at least 50% of an equivalent full-time course, and your course must last for no longer than twice the time it would take to complete the full time equivalent. (If you are not sure, your University or College can advise you.)

There are two types of means tested support that part time students can apply for, neither are repayable:-

  • A grant for fees depending on the cost of the course and the intensity of your study. This is paid directly to your college or university
  • A course grant to help with study costs, such as books, materials and travel. This is paid directly to you

For full details of the income assessment please click the Student Finance link on the right of this page. This will take you to the Directgov website, which provides more in depth information.

In addition, for students with disabilities there is a Disabled Students' Allowance. Please contact us for further information.

Application packs for support for part time study for 2008/2009 will be available from this office in July 2008.
