What to do following 'A' level results

When you receive your 'A' level results, there may be some questions you want to ask, or changes to your PN1 form that you completed earlier in the year that you need to tell us about.

Below are some questions and answers that may help provide the advice you need.

I have to go through 'clearing' - what do I do?

When you have a definite offer of a place, you must ensure that we have the correct university/college and course details. If your course details are different you must complete a 'Change of Circumstances' form and send it to us.

I'm not going to the college/university indicated on my application form - what should I do?

Complete and return a 'Change of Circumstances' form.

I am doing a different course now to the one indicated on my application form - what do I do?

Complete and return a 'Change of Circumstances' form.

If you need a 'Change of Circumstances' form (CO1), you can:
  • Contact us by phone or e mail
  • Download the form from the Direct Gov website by clicking the Student Finance link on this page.
NB: The Change of Circumstances form is a PDF file.
Please note that to view this document, you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC.

If you haven't got a copy of the Reader, please click the Advice on reading PDF files link on this page, before you click the Student Finance link.

Once you have completed the form you should return it to us at the address at the bottom of this page.

I have decided to defer for a year, what now?

  • Please notify us in writing.
  • You will need to contact the Student Loans Company to apply for next year. The date you can do this will be available from the Direct Gov website and this can be found by clicking on the Student Finance link on the right of this page.

When will I get my money?

If your correctly completed PN1 application form was submitted by 27th June 2008, the first instalment of loan should be paid direct into your bank account by the Student Loans Company 3-5 working days after your enrolment.

What do I do with the 2 copies of my financial assessment?
  • 1 copy to give to your parents/partner.
  • 1 copy to keep for your records- remember to take this with you when you enrol at your university.
