Our schools for the future

BSF students - restricted for BSF use only

Stevenage students representing the town’s 6 secondary and 3 special schools came together at The Thomas Alleyne School to give us their views on Building Schools for the Future.

The workshop involved the students talking about important issues from the Children’s Charter and how they related to the education principles that will form the basis for transforming secondary education. Top of the list were issues such as bullying and being listened to by teachers, as well as other ideas, such as ways to improve co-ordination for students travelling between schools for A-level subjects.

Jonathan Block, Headteacher at The Thomas Alleyne School said “We have a fantastic opportunity to listen to young people and let them influence how learning and schools in Stevenage will look in the future. The contributions from this workshop from a wide range of ages and ability were extremely articulate and gave us a great insight into what is important to these children around how schools are organised.”
