Family Learning for schools, Children’s Centres and other community groups

Hertfordshire Family Learning Service has a team of qualified and experienced tutors who can deliver family learning programmes to your parents/carers and children. The programmes we deliver include:

• Wider Family Learning Programmes which include a variety of short programmes providing a first step into learning for families. Programmes include Funky Food, Story Sacks, Everyone Has a Story to Tell, Making a Gift and many others.

• Family literacy, language or numeracy courses which are designed to support parents/carers and their children improve their literacy, language and numeracy skills both separately and together. programmes include Play and Language, Family Health, Keeping Up With the Children and many others.

The benefits of family learning include:

• Increased children’s achievement
• Development of parent’s knowledge of the school curriculum and their children’s learning
• Development of a culture of lifelong learning in families
• Increased parental confidence in their own skills
• Access to national qualifications and further learning opportunities for parents/carers
• Increased participation of parents/carers in the school/children’s centre
• Contributes to the 5 outcomes of Every Child Matters.

Courses are delivered free to parents/carers who meet the LSC criteria.
