HAFLS organised its first DDA Best practice event in January 2007. The event was a great success and well attended. It was led by HAFLS providers with specialist knowledge and experience.
Mind In Dacorum delivered a presentation on learners and mental health.
North Herts People First, specialist providers in working with people with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities delivered a presentation on their PIP Pack programme.
Other providers also contributed to the day’s activities. North Herts College ran a workshop on progression for learners with LDD and Courtyard Arts ran an arts and crafts taster session over lunch. Libraries, Heritage and Arts demonstrated the use of some of their specialist reading equipment.
HAFLS has increased provision for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities over the past 2 years and significantly increased the participation levels of this group. At present we are exceeding targets set by the local Learning and Skills Council.
We would like to thank all the delegates and providers for their terrific contributions to the day. Thanks should also be extended both to presenting providers and the consultants Jill Tattle and Julie Furnival, not only for their contributions but also for allowing us to post their materials on this website.
