Nursery Booklet
Introduction
Starting nursery is a very important step for your child. The information in this booklet will act as a guide to help you through the application process.
This booklet explains the different types of schools in Hertfordshire and the co-ordinated admissions process that ensures all children are offered a school place at the same time. The directory section gives information about all maintained (state) nursery schools and classes in Hertfordshire.
Last year 90% of parents/carers applied online for a nursery place. Visit www.hertsdirect.org/admissions for further details. Whilst we strongly recommend that you apply online, you may alternatively complete the paper application form, which can be found at the back of the paper booklet.
Hertfordshire has excellent nurseries that continue to raise standards. We all want the very best education for your child and to ensure that starting nursery is a well planned and happy experience.
It is up to you whether to send your child to nursery. If you decide to do so, I hope that your child will enjoy learning and developing at this exciting stage of life.
