Introduction

Moving on to secondary or upper school is a very important step for your child. The information in this booklet will act as a guide to help you through the application process.

This booklet explains the different types of schools in Hertfordshire and the co-ordinated admissions process that ensures all children are offered a school place at the same time. The directory section gives information about every secondary and upper school in Hertfordshire.

Last year 69% of parents/carers applied online for a secondary school place. Please visit www.hertsdirect.org/admissions for further details. Whilst we strongly recommend that you apply online, you may alternatively complete the paper application form which can be found at the back of the paper booklet.

Hertfordshire has excellent schools that continue to raise standards. We all want the very best education for your child and to ensure that starting a new school is a well planned and happy experience.
