State Boarding Schools

There are some schools that are known as state boarding schools. There are about 35 across the country mainly for 11-18s, though there is one 13-18 school, two which offer Primary Boarding as well as Secondary Boarding and one 11-16 school with a nearby Sixth Form College. The schools are mainly mixed.

These schools are part of the SBSA (State Boarding Schools' Association) and they give parents the option of a school boarding arrangement at the lowest possible cost. Parents pay only the cost of boarding as the education is free.
