The aim of this section is to provoke and stimulate headteachers and others responsible for schools to take positive action so as to minimise the effects of loss or damage through anti-social and criminal behaviour and of liability risks in schools. We have tried to demonstrate some of the things that can be done and to indicate the range and types of options available. By no means is this intended as a set of hard and fast rules. It is up to you to use the information to help develop a strategy that will best suit the needs of your school. Security and safety are long term commitments and need regular revision and review.
