Hertfordshire's Choice for Carnegie

And the winner is......

Every year in Hertfordshire's Library Service, many staff who have an interest in books for children and young people, get busy reading through stacks of books trying to decide which deserves to win the Carnegie medal. Finally, a shortlist of six books is drawn up, and then, once a year, they meet, discuss all the books and vote on a winner The winner that is chosen is then sent on to be considered with many other "votes" for the Carnegie medal.

The books on this year's shortlist were:
  • China Mieville - Un Lun Dun
  • Derek Landy - Skulduggery Pleasant
  • Sharon Dogar - Waves
  • Philip Reeve - Here Lies Arthur
  • Michael Morpurgo -Alone on a wide wide sea
  • Geraldine McCaughrean - Peter Pan in scarlet

And the winner was..... Here Lies Arthur by Philip Reeve

If you would like to read any of the books on the shortlist please ask at your local library.
