Services for people with hearing impairments

Hertfordshire libraries offer a range of services for people with hearing impairments:
  • All libraries can be contacted via the Customer Service Centre using Typetalk. Staff will gladly return calls using Typetalk
  • All libraries have a hearing induction loop at the enquiry desk
  • Most libraries lend DVDs, which have subtitles for people with a hearing impairment
  • Libraries can provide helpful information, such as contact details of relevant organisations and support groups, and books and other materials about sign language and lip-reading
People with disabilities are entitled to a range of exemptions from library charges. Click on the library concessions link to the right for more information.

If you can't get to a library because of your disability, we can bring the service to you at home, for more information click on the Home Library Service link.

For further advice and support click on the hearing impairment on the community directory link.
