There are concessions for the following groups of people on some of the library charges :-

People under 16
  • Lower overdue charges on books and talking books
  • No charge to borrow talking books
  • No charge to reserve children's books and children's talking books
People over 65 and People on low income who get benefits
  • Lower overdue charges
  • Lower charges for talking books and language courses
  • Lower charges for music recordings
People with dyslexia, basic skills needs or who need help to read English
  • No charge for talking books and mixed media packs
  • No charge for reservations on Hertfordshire stock
People with disabilities
  • No overdue charges
  • No charge for reminder letters
  • No charge for music recordings and talking books
  • No charge for reservations
Carers, Childminders, Basic skills tutors, and Housebound users
  • No overdue charges
  • No charge for reminder letters
  • No charge for music recordings and talking books (except childminders)
  • No charge for reservations on Hertfordshire stock
  • Extended loan period
  • Additional item allowance
