Services for carers
Do you care for someone who has an illness or disability and who is unable to visit a library? Hertfordshire Libraries offer a special carer's library card to help make life a little easier. This card is also for young carers who look after their Mum or Dad or other relative at home.
As a carer you can:
- Borrow up to 24 items - this includes 12 for yourself and 12 for the person you care for
- Keep you items for up to 6 weeks (apart from DVDs)
- Borrow music recordings and talking books free of charge
- Reserve books free of charge which are in Hertfordshire stock
There are no overdue charges on books, talking books and music recordings.
We understand carers have busy and stressful lives and we are here to help. Libraries provide a wide selection of books, videos, DVDs and music to help relax carers and those they care for. The staff can help you find information on facilities and support organisations, either in books and leaflets or on the internet.
To apply for a carer's library card, please ask at your local library or call 01438 737333 (01923 471333 if dialling from 01923 and 0208 area codes).
If you are a main carer and find it difficult to visit a library you may like to consider the
