Iqbal: a novel by Francesco D'Adamo

Book jacket - Iqbal Iqbal is a child slave, sold to work in a carpet factory. Iqbal is a charismatic boy who refuses to act like a slave and offers hope to the other children. Soon, the factory is not running as smoothly, Iqbal escapes, eventually contacts a human rights group and returns to the factory to free his friends.

This story is based on the real life and death of a Pakistani boy sold into slavery. The main character, Iqbal, was murdered by the carpet mafia in 1995, while still only a teenager.
