This story follows the life of Hero de Costa, a girl in Victorian London, as she tries to regain her father's freedom from slavery when her mother's family try to have him kidnapped and steal his pub from him.

Set in the early nineteenth century, this is an exciting novel with an appealing heroine who is over 6ft tall and given to fighting back, quite literally.
