Calling all children under five!

Book Crawl - Girl with certificates

Toddle along to your local library and join in the Bookstart Book Crawl

The Book Crawl is free and is open to children aged 0-4. To take part, just pick up a collector’s card from any Hertfordshire Library. Children then collect a sticker each time they visit the library. This could be to borrow books or to take part in a Baby Rhyme Time or Storytime. Once your child has collected four stickers they will be presented with a special certificate which will be a lovely keepsake of their earliest years as a library member.

There are currently ten attractive certificates to collect, each one designed by a top children’s illustrator. If your little one already has the full set, ten special edition certificates will be launched for the 2008 National Year of Reading, so keep on collecting!

As an added incentive, a Golden Certificate will be awarded to children who complete ten Crawls. This refers to Crawls started on, or after 1st May, 2008.

Sharing stories and rhymes together is fun for all the family and will help your child to develop a lifelong love of books. Libraries have lots of baby board books and picture books to choose from, enough to keep even the most active toddler busy!

Your child must be a library member to take part in the Book Crawl. Children are never too young to join the library and membership is free.
