Trees in Hertfordshire - have a problem?
If you have a concern about a tree in a public area you will need to find out exactly who is responsible for it. If you are unsure we recommend that you contact your local district council.
If you have established that the County Council is responsible for a tree please
contact us. It will help with your enquiry if you can identify which type of land the tree is on (e.g. school, elderly care home, fire station, etc).
For your own trees please consult a tree surgeon. If you have a tree that has a preservation order on it, or you are situated in a conservation area, please contact your local district council before you do anything to it.
For problems with neighbours' trees please make every effort to come to an agreement with them directly over action to be taken.
