1. You have access to our “simple search”. This enables you to search using one or more keywords across the whole document description. For example, a search on the term Ware will bring up all documents with the word Ware in the description in any category, including place names and surnames. You can also choose to search over a date range.
2. Enter your search criteria in the Keyword box and optionally a range of years in the From / To boxes. Click on the "search" button.
3. Your search results are displayed separately for each index.
4. Click the hit results displayed by the appropriate index to browse through your search results. To scroll through your results use the up and down arrows at the top of the list.
5. You have the option to sort your results. For example, by surname, forename or date.
6. If your search did not bring back what you expected, you can try the Advanced Search available for each index.
7. Once you have found what you want click the Add to Basket link to add items to your shopping basket.
8. You can continue searching and selecting items until your shopping basket is full (a maximum of six items).
9. You can view your shopping basket at any time by clicking on the view basket link in the menu at the top right of every page.
10. You can remove items from your shopping basket by following the instructions on screen.
11. Once you have all the items you wish to obtain to purchase proceed to obtain a quote. Full details of our reprographic service can be found on our website. Items in the Archive Catalogue index may contain several documents and we may charge £7.00 to provide an estimate.
12. You will then be asked to sign in and provide your contact details. We do not require your bank details at this stage. The information provided on this form will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, and is held by Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies, Hertfordshire County Council for the purpose of processing your application. Such data will be used for internal administration and audit purposes and will not be sold or otherwise passed to any third party. 13. Your selected items are e-mailed to Hertfordshire Archives to request a quote for obtaining copies. Not all items can be supplied digitally and photocopies may be posted to your contact address.
14. You will be sent an email confirming your request for a quote.
15. We will contact you again within 10 days with a quote for the copies.
