If you are an employer looking to hire a trainee level person, you may be interested in a scheme run by Connexions Hertfordshire. It is called the Young Employee Support Scheme ('YESS') and provides a free matching service, financial benefits and ongoing support to employers.
The way it works is that employers register their vacancy with the Connexions Employment Service. Connexions Jobsearch Advisers then search a large database of young people aged 16-19 to identify those with the correct skills, qualifications and aspirations. Employers are sent details of suitable candidates, and if they take on a young person through this scheme, they receive £80 per week for the first four weeks and £400 on week 13, to enable them to train and support the young person. The young person will also receive ongoing support to make the first months of employment a success.
