As a place to live and work Hertfordshire has many attractions:
It is a bouyant, prosperous county with one of the strongest economies in the country with high standards of living, high wage rates, low unemployment and a good quality of life. It is within striking distance of London, with excellent road and rail links to the capital, international airports and the rest of the UK.
With its medley of thriving medieval and modern towns and sleepy picturesque villages Hertfordshire offers something for everyone from historic attractions dating from Roman times (Verulamium) present day St. Albans, to numerous museums and modern recreational and leisure facilities.
The county town of Hertford is full of character with Georgian shopfronts and a medieval castle.
Hertfordshire is overwhelmingly rural with over half of the county designated as Green Belt. Picturesque wooded valleys and open farmland making up a beautiful landscape. The Chiltern Hills to the west and north west of the county are designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
