Equal pay

Hertfordshire County Council, in partnership with Unison, has been continuing work on an Equal Pay Action Plan. The Equal Pay Action Plan sets out the organisation’s commitment to close any differences in pay that cannot be objectively justified.

The plan covers areas identified as needing work. These include developing pay transparency across the organisation, tackling occupational segregation, developing pay policy and practice to ensure consistency of application and ensuring our job evaluation processes and procedures are effective and robust.

In 2007 we also held a one-day training course run by the Hay Group for all our evaluators, to ensure everyone is applying best practice and is using job evaluation in a consistent manner.
