Many of our jobs, especially those working with vulnerable groups (children, vulnerable adults) require a criminal records check by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) as part of the recruitment process.
It will be outlined in the recruitment literature for the position in question as to whether a check is required and if so what level of check. We will pay for a check to be done.
It will require the applicant to complete a CRB Disclosure form which will then be used by the CRB to do the relevant check.
There are two levels of check that we currently use:
Standard and Enhanced checks are needed where the job involves a regular level of contact or higher degree of contact with children and vulnerable adults. Some finance & accountancy positions may also need a Standard Disclosure.
Enhanced Disclosures are sought for all roles that involve one to one unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable adults.
Standard and Enhanced checks will contain spent and unspent convictions whilst the Enhanced level may also include any additional police information.
Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the job and the circumstances and background of your offences.
