Being an OT with Children, Schools and Families
The CSF Occupational Therapists (OT) are a specialist group of professionals making a difference to the lives of children with disabilities and their families, working as part of the Disabilities Team with social workers and professional assistants.
As an OT working within Children, Schools and Families you will be involved in a number of tasks. We have listed some of the key requirements of the role to give a flavour of the work you would be involved in.
Skills and Abilities
- To assess clients needs and to identify risk.
- To plan and implement care.
- To record client information accurately and in accordance with statutory and/or departmental requirements.
- To work collaboratively as part of a team and with other agencies planning and providing for client needs.
- To visit clients in their homes and at other venues and to attend meetings at sites other than own work base.
Knowledge
Knowledge of the legislation and practice guidance relevant to the care group is desirable and experience of working in Care environment perferred.
Qualification
We require a degree, BSC, DipC.O.T or belonging to any of the Specialists section of the BAOT is also an advantage eg NAPOT (you need to be registered through the Health Professions Council).
