Hertfordshire Outdoor Centre based in Cuffley and Hudnall Park) invites students of all ages to use the facilities, and welcomes organisations, special interest groups and businesses to take advantage of their excellent resources. Hertfordshire Outdoors is committed to providing achievement for all through adventurous outdoor and environmental activities. As well as providing an excellent location for habitat investigation the centres offer considerable learning opportunities in all aspects of the curriculum. A variety of both day and residential courses in safe and secure environments are available, and each centre provides specialised activities and a wide range of natural habitats.

Herts Young Mariners Base in Cheshunt provide for groups, tailor made courses, activity specific team building, and pure recreation. These can range from half a day to a week, including camping, a series of evenings, or any variation. Whether you represent a school, youth group, company or just a group of mates you can contact the base for more details. Canoeing and sailing courses are also available and follow RYA and BCU Syllabi. Outdoor facilities include space for 50 tents, toilets, wash basins, showers and water tap. Activities and amenities include purpose built climbing and caving complex, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and bellboats. There is also a public telephone, first aid equipment and a nearby shop.

Aldenham Country Park and Farm based in Elstree is open every day of the year, with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, to the public. It includes the following attractions: 75 acres of woodland, a meadow and reservoir, sailing and fishing, a farm with rare breeds including cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, shire horses, poultry and rabbits. There are also children's adventure and toddlers play areas. "100 Aker Wood" is a recreation of all the features found in the stories of Winnie the Pooh but very much in keeping with a countryside site. Refreshments are available via a Kiosk selling hot and cold drinks, cakes, ice creams, etc. - every weekend and daily from Easter until September 11am to closing time. There are also annual events such as Craft Fairs.
