Highways Services Manager
District Manager
Responsible for co-ordinating highways maintenance across a particular geographic area and typically oversees a team of 4 Assistant District Managers and 4 Area Engineers.
Assistant District Manager
Leads a team of Area Engineers in ensuring compliance with performance requirements in respect of Highways Service delivery and regulation of activity effecting the network. To work in this area you will have a well-developed understanding of highway and traffic engineering design.
Area Engineer
Varied roles incorporating assessing maintenance needs, liasing with developers regarding road closures, dealing with requests for vehicle crossings, attending council meetings, handling accidents/insurance claims etc. Previous highways experience is an advantage and strong communication skills are essential.
Programme Manager
Responsible for co-ordinating all works and activities on the Highways. This would not just include the work of Hertfordshire Highways but also of third parties such as utilities companies.
Assistant Programme Manager
Takes a supporting role in the co-ordination and programming of a wide range of activity on the highway network, by working closely with private sector partners, third parties and internal colleagues.
Development Control Engineer
Provides highways advice on planning applications for and on behalf of the Highways Authority. Much of the work is on the pre-application side and will involve a lot of dialogue with developers large and small.
