Cook Manager

To prepare, deliver and manage the catering service in a primary school.

Duties include:

  • Effective management of food, staff, cleaning materials and equipment
  • To undertake any occasional special, emergency or function catering
  • Work within and understand health & safety guidelines and hygiene regulations, ensuring the highest standards are adhered to
  • To promote the service through effective marketing and merchandising techniques
  • Work within financial targets and maintain correct unit records
  • To manage staff including the recruitment of new staff, identifying training needs, conducting on the job training and performance management
  • Motivate and lead the team


  • Skills & Abilities

    The ability to organise tasks; manage a budget effectively; recruit and train staff; lead, motivate & organise a team of staff; communicate to customers and staff on all levels; work as part of a team; complete accurate records and attend meetings away from the unit.

    This position is also available on a mobile basis where you will be required to use your own transport in order to provide cover in a range of schools in a defined area of Hertfordshire.
